ESSENTIAL OILS: Emotional Wellness

ESSENTIAL OILS: Emotional Wellness

Essential oils have been used for centuries for their potential benefits in emotional well-being. While their effectiveness may vary from person to person, many individuals find them helpful in promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and uplifting mood.

Essential oils are commonly used in aromatherapy, which  uses aromatics to support physical, mental, and emotional health. Inhaling the aroma of essential oils can stimulate the olfactory system and trigger emotional responses in the brain. Some amazing emotional wellness oils I personally have from Doterra are, Ylang Ylang, Wild Orange, Balance and Copaiba. I use them in combination with other oils diffused throughout the house or a drop topically on my skin and inhale when I need a pick me up.

Certain essential oils, such as lavender, chamomile, and bergamot, are known for their calming properties. Inhaling these oils or using them in massages or baths may help promote relaxation, reduce anxiety, and alleviate stress.

Essential oils like citrus oils such as lemon, orange, and grapefruit and floral oils such as rose,  and jasmine are often used to uplift mood and promote a sense of happiness. These oils may be diffused in the air or applied topically properly diluted to experience their uplifting effects.

Some essential oils, such as frankincense, clary sage, and sandalwood, are believed to support emotional balance. These oils are often used during meditation, prayer, or mindful practices to enhance focus, clarity, and a sense of grounding.

When sifting through essential oils imagine a plant whatever is usually at the top of the plant such as the leaves, fruits, flowers will have an uplifting effect when used through diffusion or topically. If we focus on the lower half such as the stem and roots it will have a more grounding effect, these oils are more for calm, sleep, and to mellow out.

I incorporate essential oils within my therapy sessions in order to bring a holistic approach to wellness. It is important to have many tools to help encourage my clients to live life in the best possible version of themselves and these oils help establish that tool kit. By being able to take a minute to diffuse, inhale or apply an oil and receive the emotional benefits explained above it is really a no brainer!

I look forward to going deeper into these essential oils in some more blog posts.
