PARENTING AND MENTAL HEALTH: How to find the balance between both

Balancing parenting and mental health can be challenging, but it's crucial to prioritize self-care and well-being to be the best parent you can be. So how to be actually find balance between our individual self and showing up as a parent? and that is by implementing the lifestyle changes below. Key word lifestyle as these tools must be used consistently and with continuity in order to achieve the best balanced outcome possible. The first step in any lifestyle change is to prioritize self-care. By making self-care a priority by engaging in activities that nurture your mental, emotional, and physical well-being such as exercise, hobbies, spending time with friends, practicing mindfulness allows for you to become a better version of you  and then result in better care for your children. It is also important to remember you are not alone. Reach out for support from your partner, family members, or friends. Don't hesitate to ask for help when you need it, even something as simple as having someone as a listening ear goes a very long way. BOUNDARIES my favourite word! It is important to set boundaries to protect your mental health and create a healthy balance between parenting and personal time. Learn to say no to commitments or activities that may overwhelm you or take away from essential self-care and family time classify these things as NON-NEGOTIABLES and see what other areas you can be flexible in. The essence of time is  definitely a practice so use time management techniques to prioritize tasks and allocate dedicated time for parenting responsibilities, self-care, work (if applicable), and personal time. By managing your time effectively, you can reduce stress and create more balance in your life. A key aspect in quality time is to communicate with your children openly this looks like Engaging in open and honest communication with your children about your emotions and mental health. Age-appropriately share your experiences and teach them about the importance of self-care this helps encourage them to express their feelings and concerns as well, thus creating emotionally regulated children with healthy coping mechanisms for adulthood. Some other ideas to implement include: Simplify routines and tasks, practice mindfulness and stress management, prioritize quality time, manage expectations by being realistic, and lastly Seek professional help when needed: If you're struggling with your mental health, don't hesitate to seek professional help from someone like myself!.
